Commission on Population and Development in Eastern Visayas (POPCOM VIII) conducted a “Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Session in the Workplace” last November 22, 2021 at Brgy. Pagsulhugon Gymnasium with strict observation of health protocols. This is in collaborative partnership of Commission on Population and Development in Eastern Visayas (POPCOM VIII ) with Pagsulhugon National High School (PNHS) in implementing Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) including Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) Program.

The RPFP program aims to help couples/parents exercise responsible parenting to achieve their desired number, timing, and spacing of their children, and to contribute in improving the maternal, neonatal and child health, and nutrition. Also, the sessions brings with it information on Parenting Adolescents especially in this time of pandemic and community quarantines are imposed.

The activity was headed by POPCOM VIII Technical Services Chief, Mr. Reyan I. Arinto, and Project Evaluation Officer I, Ms. Princess C. De Los Reyes, with coordination of the PNHS Gender and Development Coordinator, Joshua B. Udtujan.

This was attended by fully vaccinated PNHS teaching and non-teaching staff led by its School Head, Dr. Maria Victoria V. Dingding, and Babatngon II District Supervisor, Mrs. Myrna F. Cañete. Barangay Officials led by Barangay Captain, Hon. Benedicto Divino Jr., and the GPTA Officers spearheaded by GPTA President, Mrs. Mylene Niegas, were also in the said activity.

An active discussion was observed during the event where the following topics and concerns were given clarification and an in-depth understanding: Responsible Parenthood; Parenting Adolescents; and Family Planning. The activity ended successfully with smiles in the faces of the participants and a collection of new information worth sharing for.
